Thanks
for visiting my pet portrait website. I'm Steve Ramer.
I created this page so that you can get to know me a little bit better. I've been
drawing pencil portraits since I was eight years old. I did a drawing of one of
my grandfather's horses. He loved it so much, it inspired me to continue
drawing.
Since then I have finished thousands of drawings and portraits. Most of them have
been commission portraits for folks who love their pets.
As the years have passed, I have been able to charge more for my portraits. The reason is that my customers have told me that they think of it more like an investment than a purchase. I love to hear that!
I have never had any formal art training. I taught myself and as the years went
by, my portraits just kept getting better.
Let's see, I'm now 51 years old, so that means I've been drawing pencil portraits
for 43 years. Wow, time flies when you're having fun.
I live here in the
woods of eastern Pennsylvania with my wife of 30 years, Robin. Here's a photo of
us with our daughter Khara on her wedding day several years back.

Our son, Luke, is currently in college studying film making. We have a five year
old grandson, Paul, compliments of Khara and her husband.

Here's a picture from an hour or two before my daughter's wedding. We took this
one for my son in law.

Way back in 1974 and 1975, in between drawing, I was also a baseball player. I
spent two seasons in the Philadelphia Phillies organization before an injury
ended that dream.

There's not much else to tell. I love to draw and I love to create memories for
people with my portraits. This is a website all about pet portraits, but I draw
just about everything else to. People, cars, houses, wildlife, baseball players,
you name it, I draw it.
(My childhood hero, Roberto Clemente)
A few years ago, my brother asked me if I could teach him how to
draw. I told him to draw something so that I could see where we had to start. The
results were not good.
So I spent the next couple of weeks teaching him a system I'd put together a long
time ago.
That resulted in the creation of my line of How To Draw Books.
That's about it. I hope you enjoy my website and please consider one of my
portraits for your next gift or even for yourself.
If you have any question you would like to ask me, please contact
me anytime. I'd love to hear from you.
